*The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) recommends that pet owners should always go to their veterinarian first and seek a referral from them. Overall quality of care improves because traditional practices and specialty practices are maintaining fluid dialog. Proper communication ensures that all parties involved are on the same page. Pet Owners and their pets benefit from having both an accredited primary veterinarian and specialist(s) working together to ensure optimal care. Referral accreditation provides pet owners with additional confidence that their specialist(s) adhere to AAHA’s stringent standards.
